Former Osun State Governor Bisi Akande’s claims that former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Bola Ige was assassinated have been flatly refuted by former Oyo State Governor and Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday at his home in Ibadan, Ladoja called Akande’s assertions untrue and an effort to distort the case’s facts.
In an interview made public over the weekend, Akande was remembered for speculating that Ladoja might possess important information about the unsolved murder of Bola Ige on December 23, 2001.
He asserted that the court lawsuit his predecessor had started to investigate Bola Ige’s murder had been withdrawn by Ladoja.
But Ladoja denied the accusations, saying: “I took office as governor on May 29, 2003, 18 months after Chief Bola Ige was assassinated on December 23, 2001.”
He further insisted that the matter was pursued all the way to the Supreme Court during his administration, and he denied dropping it.
“The case was not withdrawn by me. There were no cases withdrawn by my government. Ladoja stressed that the issue was even brought all the way to the Supreme Court for prosecution.
According to Ladoja, Akande has a track record of disseminating lies, which further calls into question his reliability.
“I was deceived by Chief Akande, who is elderly. He had experienced this before. People claim that he is dishonest. According to Ladoja, Baba Adebanjo even admitted to lying in his book.

He emphasized how close he was to Bola Ige and how his murder had a profound impact on him.
