The schedule for the Super Eagles of Nigeria’s first two of the remaining six 2026 World Cup qualification games has been released by the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
On March 17, the Super Eagles will play Rwanda away from home, and on March 24, they will play Zimbabwe at home. With new head coach Éric Chelle leading the club, this is the start of a crucial time.
Due to their two meetings with Rwanda in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, the Super Eagles are familiar with both opponents. They drew goalless in their match last September, but Rwanda defeated Nigeria 2-1 in Uyo in November.
Zimbabwe had already hosted Nigeria in the qualifying series before, and in a difficult match in November, they drew 1-1.
The Super Eagles are now in fifth place with three points from four games played, four points behind leaders Rwanda, and six games remaining in the qualification series.

Coach Chelle has made it clear that getting into the 2026 World Cup is his primary aim, despite the difficulty that lies ahead. Since taking over as head coach a few weeks ago, Chelle has been working to improve Nigeria’s World Cup qualifying campaign when it starts up again in March and get ready for the AFCON tournament in December.
“The players and the March games are my primary concern. We must focus on the World Cup qualifying tournament before turning our focus to the AFCON in October. “We have to win these two games in March,” Chelle said following the recent AFCON draw in Morocco.
