In the Ijede neighborhood of Ikorodu, Lagos State, Oluwatosin Onamade, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was killed by gunmen.
On Saturday, March 8, 2025, Onamade, a candidate for the chairperson of the Ijede Local Council Development, was fatally shot and stabbed.
Oluwafemi Onamade, his brother, informed Punch that the attackers had been pursuing the victim prior to the fateful day.
The shooters used a machete on the dead when the bullets from their weapons did not pierce his corpse, according to Femi, who had previously experienced a similar incident with his brother.
“It occurred on Saturday at approximately 9 p.m. Two gunmen were involved. Since they were dressed in black, nobody recognized them. His assistant claimed that when he heard gunfire, he was unable to wait. He was macheted and shot at in front of his home. It took place in his residence on Oluwatosin Onamade Street in Ijede. “The street bears his name,” he explained.

They gave him a shot. “They used machetes on his head and face when the bullets failed to penetrate in time,” he claimed.
Speaking further, he said that his brother had been attacked in 2021 but had survived.
Although a verdict has not yet been rendered, several of the perpetrators of the 2021 attack are still behind bars.
“The attackers destroyed all of the campaign flags I had erected throughout the neighborhood that day after they were unable to enter my compound. They rushed to the Ijede LCDA party secretariat and savagely demolished the large box flag I had put up there,” he stated.
