Falz, a Nigerian musician and Nollywood actor, has criticized President Bola Tinubu for suspending Sim Fubara, the governor of Rivers State.
A state of emergency was reportedly proclaimed in Rivers State by President Tinubu on Tuesday night, citing the necessity of reestablishing law and order in the region.
In a countrywide broadcast, the announcement resulted in the initial six-month suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, his deputy, Ngozi Odu, and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
To manage the state’s business, Tinubu appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as the administrator as part of the emergency measures.

Reacting through his 𝕏 handle, Falz emphasized that a governor is elected into office and can only be removed through impeachment, saying that no legislation permits a president to suspend a governor.
The singer went on to inquire as to whether Rivers State is really experiencing a breakdown in public order, a war, or a threat to the Federation’s continued existence.
“Rivers State, there is absolutely no law that permits a president to abdicate a governor,” he wrote. Only via impeachment may a governor be removed from office after being elected.
