According to Nigerian rapper and artist Eedris Abdulkareem, his new song “Tell your papa” is not an attack on Seyi Tinubu.
“I only responded to a statement made by the president’s son that his father, Bola Tinubu, is the best president Nigeria has ever had,” he added.
Abdulkareem said this on Sunday’s episode of “Rubbin’ Minds,” which aired on Channels Television.
The comment was reportedly made by the younger Tinubu in March 2025 at Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.
According to the rapper, his new song “Tell Your Papa” was a request for the president’s son to urge his father to address Nigeria’s security and economic issues rather than a criticism of Seyi.
The only things that Nigerian young want are energy, safety, a supportive economic climate, and the creation of jobs—not palliative care.

Therefore, why should I personally attack Seyi Tinubu? I would never have recorded a song like that if Seyi Tinubu had never mentioned it. I am therefore responding to the video that he produced. I wouldn’t have said anything if he hadn’t spoken. He remarked, “Seyi Tinubu inspired me to record that song.”
Remember how Abdulkareem’s new song was instantly blocked from radio and television by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) because it was deemed inappropriate?
Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka is among the many Nigerians who have criticized the ban.
The move, according to Soyinka, is a threat to the right to free speech and a return to censorship.
Eedris Abdulkareem bemoaned on the television show that his song “Nigeria jagajaga,” which he published 24 years ago, is still relevant because Nigeria hasn’t seen the required progress.
