Fight Against Crime and Criminality: Delta State Command goes tough on criminals, recover two stolen vehicles and guns

The Command’s fight against crime and criminality remains the mandate of the Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda. He has reiterated that Deltans sleeping with their two eyes closed is the goal he has set out for the Command and has mandated all officers to key into it and adopt the proactive Policing strategies which have so far been yielding results.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS/CULTISTS, RESCUE OF KIDNAPPED VICTIMS, RECOVERY OF THREE PUMP ACTIONS GUNS, THREE DOUBLE/SIGNLE BARREL GUNS, LOCALLY MADE GUN AND CARTRIDGES: On 26/04/2025, at about 1245hrs, The DPO Agbarho Police station received a complaint from a distress caller (name withheld) that one 25/04/2025 at about 2000hrs, some armed men attacked them in Agbarho and kidnapped two of his friends (names withheld). Acting on this information, the DPO Agbarho Division CSP Pius Eredei swung into action, led operatives of the Division, and trailed the suspects to Uvwiama forest in Agbarho, Ughelli North LGA, where the hoodlums, on sighting the Police, fled in different directions, and the victims were rescued. Nine suspects were arrested during the raid, three pump-action guns, three double/single-barrel guns, one locally made gun, and thirteen rounds of live cartridges were recovered. Manhunt for the other fleeing suspects is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER/KIDNAPPER AND CAR SNATCHER, RECOVERY OF TWO SUSPECTED STOLEN VEHICLES, AND ONE PUMP ACTION GUN: Acting on credible intelligence, operatives of the CP Special Assignment team on 22nd April 2025, at about 0430, stormed the residence of one Henry Okpor ‘m’ aged 38yrs, a native of Ejeme-Aniogor community in Aniocha south LGA but lives in Ibusa. The suspect Henry Aniogor has been on the command’s watch list, he was arrested, and one pump-action gun was recovered from him. Also recovered is a Toyota Highlander with Reg. no RBC-414-BL, and a Hyundai car with Reg. no LSD-367-DU, suspected to have been stolen from their victims. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang has been involved in multiple car snatches. Manhunt for his gang members is being intensified while investigation is ongoing.

ARREST OF SUSPECTED KIDNAPPERS/CULTISTS AND RECOVERY OF TWO BERETTA PISTOLS: On 25th April 2025, at about 1835hrs, operatives of CP Special assignment team, while acting on intelligence, embarked on a sting operation and stormed the residence of one Mudiaga Okparume, ‘m’ aged 24yrs of Alegbo road in Effurun community in Uvwie LGA. A search warrant was executed in the apartment during which two Beretta pistols and five rounds of live ammunition, rounds of live cartridges were recovered. Upon further interrogation, the suspect led the operatives to Ugbokposo in Uvwie LGA, where one of his gang members, Arinze Humble, ‘m’ age 31 years, was arrested and they both confessed to being members of Vikings confraternity.. Suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
