Donald Trump, the president of the United States, announced that Americans will now celebrate two additional national holidays.
The announcement was reportedly made by Trump late Monday in a post on his Truth Social platform.
In honor of the nation’s successes in both World Wars, the American president declared November 11 and May 8 to be national holidays, commemorating the end of World War I and World War II, respectively.
He did, however, clarify that federal employees would not be taking time off for the holidays.

We never claimed credit for winning two world wars, but everyone else did! The Allies are celebrating our victory in World War II all across the world,” Trump said.
He bemoaned the alleged lack of national acknowledgment of these momentous military victories.

“The United States is the only nation that does not commemorate World Wars I and II,” he asserted. while stressing that workers would not be required to take time off as a result of the proclamation.
“On these two very significant holidays, November 11 and May 8, we will not be closing the country,” he continued.
Legislative action to support the President’s announcement is still to be seen, and the White House has not yet issued an official proclamation or released information on how the holidays would be observed at the governmental level.
