Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association Honors Outstanding Officers of the Nigeria Police, Tour Commands

In solidarity and unity, the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria, chaperoned by Eze Chika Nwokedi, the president, and other representatives of the association, toured zones and commands of the Nigeria Police on Thursday, June 19th, 2025, to award outstanding police officers while also making rounds to pay courtesy visits.
Yearly, the association makes it a mandatory duty to visit various zones and commands in Lagos and other states to show support and patriotism and make commendations to the Nigerian Police for ensuring the state is rid of crime and criminality. This visit attracts awards aided by financial support as well as the provision of operational equipment to enable ease during the discharge of duties.
The commencement of the 2025 visit began from the office of AIG Zone 2 Command Onikan; about 5 police officers were awarded in recognition of their sincerity, dedication, and outstanding service to humanity. The officers awarded include AIG Zone 2 Command, AIG Adegoke M. Fayoade Mel, PSC., DSP Chukwu Otuu Chukwu O/C zonal fast track team, ASP. Godfrey Akhigbe, secretary to the AIG, Insp. Ebere Okafor, and Insp. Adelakun Abiodun Samuel, an outstanding admin officer of Zone 2 Command; these officers are tagged with ‘One of the best police officers in 2025.’
In appreciation, the AIG, often described as an astute, non-discriminatory senior police officer, commended the effort of the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association of Nigeria for always paying courtesy visits and showing support for the Nigerian Police. He said the officers nominated to be awarded are deserving of the honor for their efficiency and total dedication to work.
Eze Chika Nwokedi, Ezendigbo Ijegun Ijeododo, and the president of the Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association also appreciated the officers who were awarded. He presented the awardees with the plaque alongside some gifted items; one of the awardees, who has particularly been awarded thrice as nominated by various superiors over the years, was promised a cash gift inclusive, for it is the norm of the association to award cash to a 3-times awardee.
Eze Chika revealed the association plans to hold an award in December 2025, as it does every 4 years. He noted this year’s award is significant because it is the association’s 10th anniversary. In 2025, he said the association is set to award over 180 uniformed personnel across the nation, and this includes the police, the Nigerian Army, the Air Force, the Navy, and other paramilitary formations. It says awards given by the association are based on merit and cannot be bought; a 12-man committee is set to collate nominations based on the resilience, integrity, and diligence portrayed by awardees in public service over the years.
The Ndigbo Buru’Otu Association president and representatives also paid a courtesy visit to CP Ogunbode Olufunke, a MINIPS PhD, Commissioner of Police Airport Police Command MMIA, Ikeja Lagos.
