Over 20 outstanding police officers recognized for optimal performance in Lagos by Eze Chika Nwokedi

Over 20 police officers of the Commissioner of Police Tactical Squad, Ijegun Annex in Lagos State, have been awarded by Eze Chika Nwokedi for their outstanding and optimum performance in Lagos State. Eze Chika Nwokedi, the Chairman of the Council of Ndi Eze Igbo Lagos State, in a display of his love and support for the Nigeria Police, annually honours some specific police officers recognised for their act of professionalism and dedication to delegated duties.

The event held on Saturday, July 19th, 2025, was attended by dignitaries and members of the press who witnessed Eze Chika Nwokedi’s efforts to support and encourage the Nigerian Police through awards and gifts following the roles that the Nigerian Police play in our society.

According to reports, the Excellence Award was presented in Eze Chika’s residential palace in Ijegun, Lagos. High Chief Sunny Akpoyibo, members of Eze Chika Nwokedi’s cabinet, friends, well-wishers, and members of the press were among the many dignitaries who attended the celebration. This most recent award is one of numerous that Eze Nwokedi gave to police officers in 2025 for their professional performance in carrying out their tasks. The awards were given to personnel at different commands and headquarters.

The awardees include Inspector Odiba Abel, Inspector Odim Destiny, Inspector Williams Henry, Inspector Osakwe Azuh, Inspector Olukayo Remi, Inspector Ikpemosa Stanley, Inspector Asowata Iyere, Inspector Oluwafemi Monday, Inspector Olawale Fapetu, Sergeant Raji Kolawole, Sergeant Oyinbo Festus and others.

During the awards presentation, Eze Chika Nwokedi said that the officers were chosen on the basis of merit and that his cabinet members helped him choose the officers based on the testimonies of numerous locals. He clarified that his palace holds the event twice a year to celebrate the police personnel who have done a commendable job and to let them know that Nigerians value their work.

He further said,

“I will keep supporting and encouraging the police because I understand the sacrifices they make in order to carry out their responsibility to safeguard people and property.”

“More also, this personal award, which comes with gifts, is intended to show officers how much they are appreciated and to motivate them to work more. It also teaches the bad eggs among them that doing good makes you a better cop.”

“Nigerians should help the police in accordance with their ability since police officers give a lot by leaving their families and moving around to defend people and property.”

Eze Chika reveals he has been instrumental in securing the station’s approval from the highest authorities to create the Tactical Team’s Ijegun Annex. Additionally, since the establishment of the station, the region’s rate of kidnapping, armed robbery, and other crimes has decreased to the lowest possible level. He committed to helping them by making the gate of the station more officer-friendly.

The monarch also commended the Inspector General of Police, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, and AIG Zone 2 Command Headquarters for their efforts to keep Nigeria secure throughout the States and urged them to do more to safeguard people and property. Attendees praised Eze Nwokedi for his years of support and encouragement of the Nigerian Police, which he has continued to do without stopping.

Chief Sunday Akpoyibo praised Eze Nwokedi and clarified that he has been helping the Nigeria Police ever since he came to know him. When he wasn’t maintaining their operational vehicles, he was painting other stations and restoring furniture. He urged more Nigerians to follow in Eze Nwokedi’s footsteps and assist and motivate the police to carry out their responsibilities more effectively.

Several of the police officers in attendance expressed their gratitude for Eze Nwokedi’s initiative and said that the awards have given them confidence that the public values their job, which would motivate them to do more.
