Governor Monday Okpebholo has been backed by Edo North lawmaker Adams Oshiomhole in his demand that former presidential candidate Peter Obi obtain security clearance prior to his visit to Edo State.
Okpebholo was said to have cautioned Obi against entering the state without first obtaining security clearance, tying the former presidential candidate’s most recent visit to a security lapse that reportedly claimed three lives.
Speaking on Prime Time, an Arise Television program, on Friday, Oshiomhole expressed his opinion on the governor’s admonition, saying that Obi should have informed Okpebholo before his visit out of self-respect and decency.

When public figures like Obi intend to visit a state, he maintained, it is crucial to notify the appropriate authorities.
The former Edo governor emphasized that the state government provides all funding and upkeep for the aforementioned school, which Obi is anticipated to visit.
“Let’s be honest: the Edo state governor is in charge of the city’s government property. It is a question of decency and self-respect for anyone, including myself, to notify the authorities if they travel to Enugu or Anambra during Obi’s tenure as governor and wish to visit a government-owned establishment, such as a nursing home.
