The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has given a N1 billion check to help the victims of bandit assaults in Benue State’s Yelwata community.

On Tuesday, she visited Benue State to offer condolences to the state’s administration and citizens for recent attacks that killed over 200 people and left many more maimed and displaced.

When he visited the state, Gautier Mignot, the European Union’s ambassador to Nigeria, warned that the Yelwata attack victims were malnourished and in critical need of assistance.

All parties involved were urged by Mignot to act quickly to improve the situation, particularly as aid distribution was equally vital in Gaza, Sudan, and the Sahel.

“The goal of the Renewed Hope Initiative is to help the victims of the heinous attacks get back on their feet as quickly as possible,” she said.

She met Governor Hyacinth Alia in the Government House, where she first stopped after arriving in the state.

The governor used the visit as an occasion to reiterate the necessity of state policing, which has long been a hot topic in national discourse.

The killings were condemned by Mrs. Tinubu, who called them needless and heartbreaking.

I implore you all to put aside your complaints and return to friendly, harmonious coexistence in my capacity as a mother.

“Talking things out and being patient are still better ways to resolve conflicts than using violence. The greatest power in the world is love, and the path of peace is the path of love. It overcomes everything even though it endures a lot of pain.

She emphasized that the best way to expand, prosper, and develop any community, people, or country is still through peaceful coexistence.

Due to its abundance and variety of agricultural products, Benue State is referred to as the “food basket” of the country. Benue State has a lot to offer the development and prosperity of our country, particularly in the field of food security.

In response to some of the previous speakers’ pleas, Senator Oluremi Tinubu promised that the president and other relevant authorities would be informed of everything that was stated.

The recent homicides in the state, according to state governor Rev. Father Hyacinth Alia, have highlighted the urgent need for both state and community police.

“This only serves to highlight the urgent need for state and community policing, which will guarantee prompt and efficient response, efficient evidence collection, and safer communities.”

The Renewed Hope effort, the First Lady’s effort, has been characterized by love, support, and compassion, he stated.

Benue State is incredibly touched by your kindness, consideration, empathy, compassion, and support. We observe this, and we value and treasure the leadership that is displayed.
