Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council set to kick off 2025 Press Week

The Correspondents’ Chapel of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State Council will begin its 2025 Press Week from Thursday, August 28 through Sunday, August 31, 2025.
A statement jointly signed by the Chapel Chairman, Comrade Abraham Akpabio, and the Chairman of the 2025 Press Week Planning Committee, Comrade Joshua Uloko, said the landmark event would witness series of activities lined up to make it memorable and would be formally flag off on Thursday, August 28 with an advocacy drive – a national discourse on the growing crisis of child abuse in Nigeria, and will be hosted by the Founder of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Ejigbo, Lagos, Primate Elijah Babatunde Ayodele at his Church auditorium by 10am.
The theme of this year’s Press Week is, ‘Journalism and the Fight Against Misinformation in a Digital Age’.
Highlights of the activities to mark the event from day two are as follows:
A Muslim Jumuah Prayer at the Secretariat Mosque, Alausa, Ikeja, on Friday, August 29, by 2pm.
There will be Health talk on Saturday morning, August 30, by the Lagos State Health Management Agency.
It will be followed by lecture, award and unveiling of Correspondents’ Chapel Magazine.
This event will bring together media practitioners, policy makers, leaders of thought, entrepreneurs, entertainers, humanitarian services providers, clerics, socio-cultural organizations, stakeholders across both the political and corporate world aimed at enhancing the standards and ethics of journalism in Nigeria.
The event on this day will hold at the prestigious Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Conference and Exhibition Center, Central Business District, Alausa Ikeja, Lagos, by 11am, and will be chaired by Otumba Olarenwaju Kazeem Lawal (Lanre Success).
The Press Week would be rounded off with a special thanksgiving Church service on Sunday, August 31, at United Evangelical Church (Founded as Qua Iboe Church), Barracks Bus stop, Ojuelegba, Surulere, Lagos, by 9am.
