The Police Command in Enugu State has detained three suspected criminals, and recovered firearms, a motorcycle and other incriminating items in separate operations within the state.

The Spokesman of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Enugu.

Ndukwe said that the feat was part of a sustained vigorous clampdown on armed robbery and other violent crimes in the state by the command.

He said that on Aug. 20, police operatives attached to the Agbani Area Command, apprehended a suspect, and recovered a locally-made gun from him.

“Preliminary investigations link the suspect to an armed robbery incident that occurred recently at Nara Unataeze, Nkanu East,” he said.

The police spokesman further said that on Aug. 18, operatives attached to the Udenu Police Division, apprehended two suspects at Obollo-Afor, Udenu Local Government Area.

“During interrogation, one of them confessed to have robbed a motorcyclist of his motorcycle.

“A motorcycle, one locally fabricated cut-to-size gun, one live cartridge, one battle axe, a cutlass, three solar panels, one solar battery, solar light, and an object suspected to be a charm were recovered from them,” he said.

Ndukwe said that the suspects would be arraigned in court at the end of investigations.

He urged members of the public to always support the police with timely and credible information to enhance proactive crime prevention and effective policing.

The spokesman said that Mamman Giwa, the Commissioner of Police in the state, remained committed to rid Enugu State of criminals.
