United States President Donald Trump has revoked secret service protection of former vice president, Kamala Harris.
The revocation, according to CNN, was contained in a letter dated Thursday, August 28.
DAILY POST reports that all former presidents of the US are entitled to secret service protection for life.
Harris, who was a former vice president, received six months of protection after leaving office but the period ended on July 21st.
However, reports indicate that her protection was extended for an additional year via a directive by the Joe Biden administration.
The directive, according to CNN, was signed by the then President Joe Biden shortly before he left the office January this year.
But Trump in a letter titled ‘Memorandum for the Secretary of Homeland Security’, cancelled the extension.
The letter reads, “You are hereby authorized to discontinue any security-related procedures previously authorized by Executive Memorandum, beyond those required by law, for the following individual, effective September 1, 2025: Former Vice President Kamala D. Harris.”
