Former Manchester United, Liverpool and Man City stars, Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher and Nedum Onuoha,  respectively,  have expressed their disappointment over VAR decision that ruled out Josh King’s goal in Fulham’s defeat to Chelsea in the Premier League on Saturday.

Ferdinand believes that the youngster was robbed by the match officials.

The former England international noted that such decisions could be harmful for an 18-year-old player.

The teenager thought he had put his team in front in the game but referee, Rob Jones was summoned by the VAR who ordered him to  review the goal on the touchline monitor.

Leading to the goal, Fulham attacker, Rodrigo Muniz won possession ahead of Chelsea defender, Trevoh Chalobah, but the Brazil striker had unwittingly stood on his opponent’s foot.

The referee then disallowed the goal, and this decision did not go down well with many fans and pundits, including Rio Ferdinand.

“VAR killing this young man’s moment,” said Rio Ferdinand on X.

Also reacting, former Liverpool star, Jamie Carragher opined “VAR has had a shocking start to the season.”

Nedum Onuoha, who played for Manchester City, wrote, “For me, I think that goal should always have stood.”
