A 29-year-old man in Adamawa State, Isiaka Hassan, has been arrested for allegedly killing a five-year-old boy.
The Adamawa State Police Command, which disclosed this on Sunday evening, said it received a report from one Hadiza Bashiru of Tingno, Lamurde LGA, that her five-year-old son, Abba Bashiru, was missing and was last seen with Isiaka Hassan.
“On the strength of that, the command’s operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Tingno, swiftly led an operation and arrested the said Isiaka Hassan,” the Command said in a press statement signed by Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.
Nguroje stated that the suspect had confessed to conspiring with one yet-to-be-arrested accomplice to kill the boy.
Hassan said he and his accomplice, who is still at large, buried the boy in a shallow grave.
“The corpse was exhumed and taken to hospital for autopsy,” Nguroje said, adding that the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Dankombo Morris, had directed the state Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspect.
“The Command reassures members of the public of its commitment to ensure justice is served and calls for continued cooperation in the fight against violent crime across the State,” Nguroje concluded.
