Tension Mounts in Rivers Amid Mystery of Fubara’s Whereabouts

Amid rumors that he could return to Port Harcourt, Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, is still missing.

Friday Olokor, the Rivers State correspondent for Arise Television, provided an update on the situation on the Morning Show program, stating that despite political tensions, the state is still calm.

According to reports, Sim Fubara, the state’s reinstated governor, received a formal handover from Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, the sole administrator of Rivers State.

During his last state-wide broadcast, Ibas called on the populace to back Fubara as he returns to his responsibilities as state leader.

Recall that six months prior, when he proclaimed an emergency in Rivers State, President Bola Tinubu suspended Fubara.

The president did, however, reinstate Fubara and suspend the emergency rule on Wednesday.

According to Olokor, who gave updates on the state’s status, the governor’s absence has left governance unclear and uneasy, and citizens are eagerly awaiting clarification.

He clarified that separate sessions were being held by members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which is still divided, in order to carry out legislative work.

The people are still suffering the most from the crisis, and Olokor pointed out that the political conflicts have made matters worse.

He went on to say that in order to avoid a recurrence of previous political crises in the state, there are expectations that both Assembly factions will seek to reconcile.

“Yes, thank you very much. The atmosphere is cool right now in Rivers state, specifically in Port Harcourt,” he remarked. There isn’t an issue. Although there are rumors that the governor would arrive today, the truth is that his current location is unknown.

Despite being portrayed as the epicenter of political hostility, the mood in Rivers State is cool, serene, and welcoming at the moment. No issue exists. Additionally, there are still some members of the House of Assembly who we are currently expressing.

“Well, a leadership position shouldn’t be vacant, as you are aware. However, since the governor is not present, the mood is tense, and Rivers residents are waiting because no one is really sure where the governor is.

“Everyone is waiting to see what’s happening, including the lone administrator. The current situation, however, makes it impossible to predict when the governor will be present or how the handover will actually go.

Any information I choose to share with you will be what I would refer to as political speculation. As of right now, nothing is truly known regarding the governor’s whereabouts or whether he would attend.

Naturally, the feeling is that the state assembly members, notwithstanding their differences, will be gathering in different locations to actually put the acts together as the state has had a legislative void since the new government is returning.

The ground is believed to suffer when two elephants battle, and the people have indeed suffered as a result. It is thought that the people of Rivers State should band together in order to write, put things together, and actually move things along.

The 20 members of the House of Assembly who are members of the APC and the other three are thought to be meeting someplace at the moment. They are thought to be holding separate meetings in an effort to ensure that the legislation is carried out.

Without a doubt, based on fillers, you cannot completely discount out the possibility that factions will persist despite the holding and success of elections.

The state and its citizens have suffered, so what counts is that they are uniting to move past the past and go forward. It is also a desire to prevent history from happening again.
