Alhaji Emilola Gazal, the former chairman of the Ijebu-Ode Local Government, had his home broken into by an armed group on Thursday morning. They took his car, jewels, and money with them.
Speaking to our correspondent over the phone, Gazal, who also publishes The Roots Magazine, verified the occurrence.
The three armed men entered my home in Ijebu-Ode GRA at around two in the morning. I was made to access my phone’s bank apps and move all of the money to an account they provided after they took all of the money from me. All that was left in my account was N5,000.
They took my ash-colored automobile and my wife’s ornaments as well.
In fact, they promised to take my automobile with them. “I will simply inform the police about the incident at Igbeba and Obalende, Ijebu-Ode,” Gazal said our correspondent.
This incident was said to occur in the midst of a wave of violent home invasions and robberies that had been recorded throughout Ogun State, especially in the Ijebu region.
A gunfight along the Sagamu–Ijebu Ode Expressway earlier this year resulted in the death of a suspected armed robber by the Ogun State Police Command.
A suspect connected to a break-in and armed robbery in Ayetoro, which resulted in around N1.5 million worth of stolen goods, was also recently detained by the command on September 12, 2025.
Amotekun Corps, the regional security network, has participated in shootouts with criminal groups in the past and eliminated suspects in Ogun’s border areas.
More information later.
