A market woman named Hajiya Basira and her daughter, a police officer named DSP Madina Mustapha, are accused of engaging in criminal intimidation, assault, and abuse of office. Khadija Abdulsalam, a resident of Kaduna, has petitioned the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Abuja.

In the September 30, 2025, appeal, Khadija Abdulsalam claimed that Hajiya Basira, whose store is close to theirs, has been harassing and insulting her and her mother, who own stores in Kaduna Central Market.

She asserted that on September 6, 2025, Basira allegedly attacked her verbally and physically without cause, turning the altercation violent.

Abdulsalam claims that after a neighbor informed the market police post’s officers, one officer, Bashir, stepped in and requested that both parties come back the next day to sign a peace commitment.

On September 7, however, Abdulsalam said that DSP Madina Mustapha, a serving officer and reportedly Basira’s daughter, stepped in and used her power to move the case from the market police post to the Magajin Gari Police Division.

In the petition, Abdulsalam said, “I wrote my statement at the division, but I had to kneel and beg the same person who assaulted me.”

She also claimed that she had been unjustly and illegally held.

In addition to warning DSP Mustapha against meddling in police matters, the petitioner urged the DIG to mandate an impartial probe into the event.

Abdulsalam claims that other witnesses, including one Abba, saw the incident, which has raised questions about police impartiality and power abuse in civil cases.

Neither DSP Mustapha nor Hajiya Basira have officially addressed the accusations as of the time of publication.
