American music entrepreneur Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is facing punishment for two charges related to prostitution, has asked a U.S. judge for mercy.
The rapper is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, October 3, 2025, for the official announcement of his sentence. The rapper was cleared of more serious allegations, including as sex trafficking and racketeering, in July, according to reports.

Combs sent a lengthy letter to Judge Arun Subramanian, describing his experience in a federal prison in Brooklyn as both incredibly difficult and transformative.

Along with 25 other prisoners, he claimed to have spent more than a year in squalid conditions without windows or potable water. He also talked of times when he thought about giving up on life.

When deciding on his sentence, he requested that the court take into account his efforts at reform and personal development.

Combs also expressed regret for previous acts, including as physically abusing singer Cassie Ventura, his ex-girlfriend, while they were dating.

Prosecutors claimed that Ventura’s experiences of fear, control, and abuse while engaging with Combs were part of his pattern of destructive behavior, as did another woman who testified during the trial.

The gravity of the offenses and Combs’ prior influence and position have led prosecutors to demand a minimum of 11 years in jail.

His defense team contended that the 13 months he has already spent ought to be used to his penalty.

Combs requested that the judge consider his family obligations, such as raising his seven children and his aging mother who is recuperating from brain surgery, while making a decision.

It is anticipated that Combs will testify in court prior to the sentencing, and his defense team will play a 15-minute video.

The rapper’s sentence for the two charges of transportation to participate in prostitution will be extended based on the judge’s ruling.
