Dangote Refinery Hails Government, Security Officials Over PENGASSAN Strike Avoidance

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) had planned disruptive protests against Dangote Petroleum Refinery, but the firm has praised President Bola Tinubu for his “timely and decisive intervention” in stopping them.

The business stated in a statement on Saturday that Tinubu’s leadership gave the energy industry stability “at a critical moment” through important ministers and security authorities.

The firm expressed gratitude to President HE Bola Tinubu, GCFR, of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, for his intervention through his ministers and top officials, which led to the reduction of PENGASSAN’s disruptive measures against the refinery.

Security chiefs were instrumental in reducing tensions, according to the refinery.

Nigeria’s security chiefs, under the leadership of national security advisor Nuhu Ribadu, were cited by the firm as the main government representatives who “worked tirelessly to restore normalcy.”

Other individuals include Mohammed Mohammed, the director-general of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Adeola Toyin Ajayi, the director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS).

The Dangote refinery also praised the “untiring efforts” of high-ranking government officials who, according to the company, put in late hours to avert a more serious crisis in the energy industry.

The refinery stated that it was still deeply appreciative of the patriotism and national service of the Hon. Minister of Labor and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Dingyadi; the Hon. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun; the Hon. Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Abubakar Bagudu; and the Hon. Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha.

The business also thanked Nigerians for their “overwhelming support” throughout the labor dispute.

“Your encouragement of our noble goal was both overwhelming and humble. We heard your voices and encouraging remarks on Nigeria’s streets and in the country’s media outlets,” the company stated.

“You gave us hope and strengthened our faith in Nigerians as the foundation of our business.”

Additionally, the business commended its employees for continuing to operate in spite of “provocations,” calling them “the strength of the Dangote Group.”

Reiterating its commitment to fair work practices and the growth of the national economy, the corporation reaffirmed its status as a significant private employer.

“The Dangote Group is acknowledged as the biggest private sector contributor to tax revenues and one of Nigeria’s model employers of labor,” the organization said.

“Our compensation plan is intended to safeguard worker welfare and preserve dignity in the workplace, and it is measured against international standards.”

In addition, Dangote Refinery praised the judiciary for “standing firm in defence of the rule of law” in the face of attempts to interfere with its business.

“Despite threats from those who would not accept legitimate court orders, the judiciary saved society during our most dire time,” the refinery continued.

Using the phrase “undiminished and unalterable,” the company reaffirmed its dedication to industrial stability and patriotic service.
