Following the ₦673 million recorded in 2024, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), has urged Nigerians both at home and abroad to take advantage of new investment opportunities through the Nigeria Diaspora Investment Summit (NDIS) and make significant investments in Nigeria’s economic development.
Speaking at a Joint World Press Conference held at the NiDCOM Headquarters in Abuja before to the event, which is set for November 11–13, 2025, and has as its theme “Fast Tracking Regional & National Development By Mobilizing Diaspora Investment,” Dabiri-Erewa reportedly made this announcement.
According to her, since its launch in 2018, the NDIS has developed into a reliable channel that encourages “direct, credible, and impactful investments” from the Nigerian diaspora into the local economy.
The 2024 edition was a huge success, with over 1,500 attendees, including 1,197 business owners and 236 investors, Erewa noted.
“The NDIS has evolved from a conference to a catalyst for sustainable development and enterprise, creating jobs, empowering youth, and linking Nigeria’s vast talent pool to its development agenda,” she said.
The event produced 56 investment deals worth about ₦673 million, she emphasized, with the creative industry leading the pack with 39 deals. The infrastructure, real estate, agribusiness, and energy sectors also saw strong performance.
“The Summit has previously been used by a number of state governments, including Ondo, Nasarawa, and Borno, to draw in investors and move forward with significant development projects, like Ondo’s port initiative, which was later approved by the federal government.”
The Nigeria Diaspora Summit Initiative (NDSI) Chairperson Badewa Adejugbe-Williams also spoke at the ceremony, stating that the conference has been an important link for Nigeria’s development over the years, drawing in investments and releasing the diaspora’s enormous potential.
The subject for this year, she continued, is a wonderful fit with the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to diversify the country’s economy and promote sustainable development and equitable progress.
Adejugbe-Williams also urged new media partners, sponsors, and investors to make the most of the Summit’s prospects and spread its message.
