accusations made by the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Zone C Chapter, have been rejected by the office of Senator Abba Moro, Senate Minority Leader and representative of Benue South Senatorial District. The office has described the accusations as deceptive and politically motivated.
The senator’s office said the recent attack on his reputation was a “feeble attempt” by the council chairmen to please their political benefactor, according to a statement issued by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John.
According to the statement, Senator Moro’s criticism of the state government is not personal and is instead the result of his serious concerns about governance problems, such as insensitivity, nepotism, poor administration, and disrespect for the law.
The statement stated that Senator Moro has no personal grudges against Governor Alia.
“His criticisms are intended to draw attention to issues that impact the residents of Zone C, such as insecurity and unequal project and opportunity distribution.”
Further highlighting his legislative and developmental accomplishments, the senator’s office noted that he had backed and obtained presidential assents for three establishment bills in quick succession, carried out verifiable projects in all Zone C local government areas, and equipped thousands of young people with white-collar jobs and skills.
“This stands in sharp contrast to the chairmen of local governments, who have failed to provide basic amenities like hospitals, schools, roads, and bridges despite having access to significant resources,” the statement said.
In addition, the senator’s team questioned the chairmen’s grasp of government, characterizing their assault on Moro as “a show of shame against the people of Zone C” as opposed to a personal grudge.
