Nigerian Senior Advocate Monday Ubani has counseled Prof. Joash Amupitan, the recently confirmed chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to concentrate on the next elections rather than questioning the previous government.
Ubani made this recommendation on Friday while answering questions during a monitored appearance on Arise Television.
Less than twenty-four hours have passed since Prof. Amupitan was officially confirmed as the significant head of Nigeria’s electoral board.
Although there are benefits to looking back, the new INEC leadership shouldn’t make this their main priority.
Restoring Nigerians’ faith in the institution should be the Chairman’s top priority in light of the upcoming Anambra election.
An important litmus test will be this election. Prof. Amupitan has the credentials and qualifications needed to excel academically.
“But his inexperience in managing such a significant responsibility could be a minor drawback,” he stated.
