An abducted former member of the House of Representatives, Joan Onyemaechi, has regained her freedom.

The ex-lawmaker was abducted by gunmen at her church premises in Asaba, Delta State, on July 30.

The spokesman for the state police command, Bright Edafe, confirmed the news to journalists on Saturday in Asaba.

He said Onyemaechi was released by the kidnappers on Friday night.

The spokesman added that details on how the former commissioner for technical education in the state was released would be made public later.
