Ginger Onwusibe, the representative for the Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, has stated that Alex Otti, the governor of Abia State, will not challenge President Bola Tinubu’s campaign for a second term.
Onwusibe reportedly made this statement on Sunday at the “Project Switch On Bende” flag-off ceremony, which took place at Lohum Umuimenyi in the Bende Local Government Area. Chief Frank Chinasa, the Abia State Chief Liaison Officer in Abuja, oversaw the project.
The lawmaker pointed out that Tinubu’s and Otti’s performance in government had won them both a second term.
“What I have said about Mr. President is my personal opinion, and I can tell you the governor will not oppose Mr. President’s second term bid, and it is the governor in Abia State here that has the capacity to deliver Mr. President,” he declared.
“I started politics in 1999,” Onwusibe continued, highlighting his political background. During the administration of Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, I served as a Special Advisor. Additionally, I held the positions of Local Government Chairman and Special Assistant under Governor T.A. Orji. During Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s administration, I was both a member of the House of Assembly and the chairman of the Local Government.
“I can tell you with all due responsibility that Alex Otti has earned his second term because he has outperformed all of these governors.”
The leader of the Labour Party also praised Chinasa for helping with the solar lighting project and expressed hope that additional advancements would come if she were granted more political authority.
Chinasa stated in his speech that the initiative’s goals were to increase local security and rebuild public trust in governance.
In just a few months, he revealed that 486 solar-powered street lights had been placed in Uzuakoli and Umuimenyi Ward.
“This project is more than the installation of solar street lights,” stated Chinasa. Restoring trust in governance is the goal. It is about making our streets safer for our kids, allowing our vendors to operate late into the night, and revitalizing our communities’ sense of pride and belonging.
“Our goal is to make sure that light has an impact on every ward, town, and street in the Bende Federal Constituency. Because security exists wherever there is light. Opportunities exist wherever there is light. And life exists wherever there is light.
He went on to say that the initiative is in line with Governor Otti’s development agenda and that it was made possible by the Niger Delta Development Commission’s “Operation Light Up the Niger Delta” program.
Additionally, Chinasa called on locals and community leaders to take responsibility for and protect the facilities.
In separate statements, Johnson Chukwu, the event chairman, and Uwabunkeonye Bassey, the mayor of Bende Local Government Area, praised Chinasa for bringing the project to the region.
“I’m not a politician, but I love good governance,” Chukwu declared. The number of lives one can impact is what counts, regardless of financial wealth.
“Our people respect Chinasa. He will do more if we give him governmental authority and he can use his personal connections to provide us with solar light.
