Peter Obi and other prior candidates for president under the party’s platform have been directly challenged by Julius Abure, national chairman of the Labour Party, to produce proof of any money allegedly handed to him or the party during the general elections in 2023.
Abure said this in a video published on Tuesday by Symfoni, in which he addressed party members in the Federal Capital Territory and addressed persistent claims of corruption in the party’s leadership.
He vehemently denied receiving any money for personal use from any of the party’s candidates, including Obi, as far as Naija News is aware.

“From Peter Obi to those that ran for office, I want to challenge them all. Abure proclaimed, “Let any of them come out and tell the world what they personally gave to me or to the party.”
“Let them show any supporting documentation they may have. If not, allow them to remain silent indefinitely.

He denounced what he called “cowardly whispers” of corruption and charged critics with avoiding direct confrontation with the party administration in favor of hiding behind the media.

In addition, Abure alluded to hosting a global news conference at which he would publicly name members of the party’s rival wing.

He asserted that his quiet was motivated by a feeling of leadership and the desire for peace, but he issued a warning that if he was provoked further, he would be forced to speak.

“I remained silent whenever someone brought up agents and agency funding. I consider it my responsibility to handle the good, the terrible, and the ugly. However, he stated that some people are now crossing their limits.

I’m holding off until they take action. No matter where they go, they will smell like rotten eggs that no one will purchase when I open my lips.

Abure also attacked Abia State Governor Alex Otti, the sole elected governor of the Labour Party, accusing him of not making a financial contribution to the party during the election campaign.

Watch the governor as he hops around from one spot to another like a cricket. He responded, “We didn’t get a dime from him.”

“Chairman, what do I do for you?” he asked me when we first met at Transcorp. “Nothing,” I said. For your election, use your funds.

He added that the party has not gotten any significant backing from public officials, with the exception of a few MPs who made small donations.

Abure asserted that the leadership of the Labour Party rejected bribes worth billions of naira during the election season, vehemently rejecting current allegations of financial misconduct.

“We turned down offers due to the integrity of our positions. However, he added, “these same people are attempting to expel us today.”
