Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar joined a number of Nigeria’s past and present leaders on Saturday to commemorate the 70th birthday of former Bauchi State governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Chairman Adamu Muazu.
The event in Bauchi featured prominent dignitaries such as former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Vice President Kashim Shettima, former military Head of State Gen. Yakubu Gowon (retd), former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) leader Rabiu Kwankwaso, among others.
In a post on his official 𝕏 (previously Twitter) page, Atiku reflected on Muazu’s contribution to Nigeria’s modern governance.

“Yesterday, I joined my boss, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and Vice President Kashim Shettima, along with many other prominent Nigerian leaders, in paying tribute to Alhaji Ahmadu Adamu Muazu,” the senator wrote.
The former Vice President, who served under Obasanjo from 1999 to 2007, acknowledged Muazu’s major contributions to governance and the PDP.

“As Vice President of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007, I worked with Muazu and other governors who served within that period to lay the foundation for good governance and a private sector-led economic growth for Nigeria,” according to him.

Muazu, who led Bauchi State from 1999 to 2007, received widespread accolades during the ceremony for his developmental achievements and leadership style. Muazu, known in political circles as the “game changer,” went on to serve as the PDP’s National Chairman, leading the party through critical electoral seasons.

Atiku praised the celebrant’s resilience and commitment to nation-building.

“I used the occasion to congratulate Mu’azu and wish him many more years in good health and vitality,” he told me.
