Former Cross River State Governor and former Social Democratic Party (SDP) presidential candidate Mr. Donald Duke has been named Chairman of the African Democratic Congress’ (ADC) newly established Leadership Forum.
Duke, a recent PDP defector, was appointed to the role during a meeting of the party’s executive committee and expanded stakeholders for the Cross River State chapter.
The state chairman, Dr. John Ogar, signed a statement at the conclusion of the meeting characterizing the Leadership Forum as the party’s top non-elective advisory body.
The forum, which would include esteemed members with shown integrity and leadership expertise, was deemed necessary, according to the communiqué.
The organization is intended to oversee and offer strategic direction to the ADC leadership throughout the state, the party claims.
The meeting’s stakeholders unanimously approved Duke as the forum’s chairman, tasked with overseeing operations in each of the three senatorial districts.
Akin Ricketts, a former chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority, was named chief of the Central District, Dr. Effiong Nyong, a former ADC governorship candidate, was named chief of the Southern District, and Chief Ray Ugba Morphy was named chief of the Northern Senatorial District.
Prior to the upcoming general elections, the party decided to step up its membership drive and set a goal of registering at least one million voters.
The party constitution would be applied to any member, regardless of status, found to be involved in actions that hinder the party’s progress, it further pledged to impose internal discipline.
