Ismail Ahmed, a former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Youth Leader, has dismissed the possibility that Nigerians frustrated with the country’s situation would openly stone President Bola Tinubu, APC leaders, and government officials.
Nigerians would listen to the leaders and have faith in the process, he said, therefore there is still hope.
The submission was reportedly made by Ahmed on Tuesday when discussing the Tinubu administration’s performance during its first two years in power in an interview.
When asked to defend the actions of the APC-led government for Nigerians over the last two years, the party stalwart responded that President Tinubu and the APC have prevented Nigeria from becoming bankrupt.

Although the expectations of certain citizens have not been fulfilled, he added, the current administration has not destroyed the hope and expectations of Nigerians, and the government still has two more years to fulfill its commitments.
Ahmed provided justification for the Tinubu administration’s increased borrowings by pointing out that the money isn’t being misappropriated or embezzled but rather is being used to build the nation’s infrastructure, and Nigerians can observe the completion of numerous significant projects.
He said that the APC-led Tinubu government has done well in its first two years in power, despite criticism from some quarters regarding problems like economic hardship, insecurity, and the country’s growing hunger, which they blamed on the president’s misguided policies.
Nigerians will probably listen to us and give us the benefit of the doubt. As of yet, it is not a crushed hope.
This nation is not going bankrupt because of us. Everybody, whether they are corporations, businesses, or nations—especially nations—must operate on debt. One thing is that debt can be sustainable; it can be used to finance infrastructure improvements, enablement frameworks, or the growth of enterprises that will provide jobs for people.
Borrowing to spend, paying salaries, eating it, having corruption eat it away, and spending it on never-ending drivel is another matter entirely. At the moment, however, we are borrowing in order to invest in our infrastructure, and Buhari initiated this, as you are well aware. Many pieces of infrastructure that appeared to be unfinished were completed. And I don’t think we’re doing too badly, considering what we’re doing everywhere under this government.
