According to a leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senate President Godswill Akpabio is an adversary of democracy.
During an interview with Laolu Akande on “Inside Sources” on Sunday, Okonkwo made this statement.
According to the attorney, if the Senate President does not leave the position in an honorable manner, he should be removed.
The politician who had previously worked in Nollywood was responding to the Senate’s rejection of real-time electronic election results transmission.
According to reports, the Senate rejected a revision to Clause 60, sub-section 3 of the Electoral Amendment Bill on Wednesday that would have required the electronic transmission of election results.
In response, Okonkwo said, “Let me share with you the stunning and noteworthy statement made by Supreme Court Justice Abba Aji. We cannot go back in time, he claimed, and modernity and technology strike us in the face.
“In this high-tech era and period, to oppose the use of technology and electronic transmission and transfer of election results is to be an enemy of democracy and to adhere to the vicious cycle of election rigging, manipulation, and falsification,” he continued.
Why would the legislature hesitate on a matter which the Supreme Court has declared to be one that incites election manipulation and rigging and renders you an enemy of democracy?
In other words, Senator Godswill Akpabio has turned into an adversary of democracy and is continuing the cycle of election tampering, manipulation, falsification, and deceit by attempting to uphold the same clause that the Supreme Court had declared anti-democratic.
“That man should be removed if he doesn’t resign because he is an enemy of democracy.”
