Godswill Akpabio, the Senate President, has denied the accusations made against suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan at her Sallah Homecoming rally in Okehi, Kogi State.
Natasha reportedly said at the rally on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, that Akpabio had conspired to kill her with Kogi Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and his predecessor, Yahaya Bello.
“On March 12th, Akpabio spoke with Governor Ododo to remind him of me,” she stated. However, he informed him that since the people are supporting her, it will not be possible.

Akpabio, however, was not content. Yahaya Bello was then summoned by him, and Senator Asuquo really picked him up and brought him to the meeting location. Everything was told to me. The encounter was in two halves when they reached him. They urged him to start my recall and promised to pay for it. Money, of course, was exchanged that evening. For the second time, he advised him to try to murder me. I wrote to the police, but I kept this private. He gave him advice on how to prevent me from being killed in Abuja. So that it appears as though it was the people who killed me here, it should be done here (Okehi). Although I didn’t disclose it to the public, we did let the security services know.

In reaction, Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President’s Special Advisor on Media and Publicity, stated in an interview with The Nation that Akpabio would not be sidetracked by Natasha’s accusations.

The burden of proof rests with Senator Natasha, according to Akpabio’s aide.

“My reaction is simply that whoever alleges must prove it,” he stated. That is easy. In law, that is standard. In law, the burden of proof is with the person making the allegation.

As of right moment, however, the SP is diligently working with his fellow senators to cooperate and coordinate with the government in order to provide Nigeria with new hope.

The SP won’t come down and start to become sidetracked, I’m suggesting. He is currently focusing on working with his fellow senators to provide Nigeria with renewed hope through a positive partnership with the executive and other branches of government.
