Akpabio emerges Nigeria’s 10th Senate President.

Former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, was on Tuesday morning, June 13, elected as the 10th President of the Senate.

The former Akwa State governor defeated his rival, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, to secure the seat of the number three citizen when the 109 Senators converged to elect key officers of the upper legislative chambers of the 10th National Assembly.

Senator Ali Ndume nominated Senator Godswill Akpabi, after reading the biography of the former Akwa Ibom governor, while Senator Elisha Abbo from Adamawa North nominated Yari.
