The government of Akwa Ibom State has proclaimed Friday, November 29, 2024, a day off from work in remembrance of the late First Lady Patience Eno.

According to a statement released Wednesday in Uyo, the state capital, by Secretary to the State Government Enobong Uwah, the decision was made to allow Akwa Ibomites and other well-wishers to pay their final respects to the deceased First Lady.

The announcement said, “In honor of our beloved mother, the Akwa Ibom State Government has declared Friday, November 29, 2024, a work-free day in consultation with the bereaved family, in response to the final home-going program of our departed First Lady, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno.”

This is to allow Akwa-Ibomites to honor our mother at her funeral service at Ikot Ekpene Udo, Nsik Ubuim Local Government Area, on that day.
