Alaafin’s Vacant Stool: ICIR Stakeholders Meet Oyomesi, Demand For a ‘Monarch Of Culture ‘.

The International Council For Ifa Religion (ICIR) are imploring the kingmakers in Oyo Empire and the Oyomesi to stand by their decision without a compromise; we don’t want a Christian or Muslim person on the throne of the Alaafin of Oyo-High Chief Sholagbade Popoola, President, International Council For Ifa Religion (ICIR).
We have had more than a hundred personalities who are showing interests in becoming the next Alaafin of Oyo but we can’t go by their looks or influences in the society to make a choice,we are strongly standing by our decision to use the Ifa oracle in making the choice-High Chief Yussuff Akinade Ayoola (Layinka 1),the head of Oyomesi and the Prime Minister to Iku Baba Yeye.

The stakeholders and members of the International Council For Ifa Religion (ICIR) with their headquarters in Lagos State had paid an important visit to the Bashorun and the Head of Oyomesi group in the Oyo Empire,High Chief Yussuff Akinade Ayoola (Layinka 1) on Friday,10th of September,2022.

The courtesy visit led by the President of the association, High Chief Sholagbade Popoola,was made with strong intentions to show their support for the latest news from the Oyomesi on the choice of the new Alaafin of Oyo,to reveal their ‘unshaken stand’ behind the kingmakers in the ancient domain to the last and to make a ‘helpful request’.
A news was released to the general public from Oyo few weeks ago that the kingmakers (the Oyomesi) have,following the record of huge numbers of contestants for the post of the Alaafin, decided to consult Ifa Olokun A Soro Dayo for the final choice.
Standing before the Bashorun of Oyo Empire and the leader of the Oyomesi,High Chief Yussuff Akinade Ayoola (Layinka 1),the President of the International Council For Ifa Religion (ICIR),High Chief Sholagbade Popoola on behalf of the 25-man journeyers disclosed that the trip to the land was made to show their joy for the decision made by the kingmakers and to make a special request which will lead to the future and continuous existence of culture in Oyo.
