The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Umar Ganduje, has come under fire from Farouk Aliyu, a founding member, for making a one-party state remark.
The previous House of Representatives Minority Leader reportedly stated that Ganduje’s stance on a one-party state did not reflect the party’s stance.
Aliyu justified opposition politicians’ switch to his party in an interview with Arise News on Tuesday.
A one-party system is undoubtedly not ideal for us. The APC is not considering a one-party state. What Ganduje said is his own view. Despite the fact that he is our leader, he stated that the APC does not support a one-party state.
He said the opposition parties have to maintain order in their houses. However, he stated that it would be detrimental to the country’s democracy if all politicians joined the APC.
However, I want you to know that if someone runs to APC, it’s not our fault. We were in the opposition and remained so until we were incorporated into the ruling party. with all the threats and so forth. We won’t stop PDP or other party members from joining us if they so choose.
However, it is detrimental to our democracy that everyone joins the APC. Democracy also allows people to express their opinions, such as, “Since you are all in the APC, we will vote for any other party instead of the APC.” The people will choose who to vote for, so don’t be alarmed by this. He said, “The people will choose who to vote for when it comes to voting, regardless of whether 90 percent of Nigerians choose to join the APC in terms of numbers.”
The chieftain of the APC in Jigawa State emphasized that Nigerians, not party affiliation, should determine the outcome of elections.

If Nigerians are unhappy with the politicians who have switched parties, he urged them to vote them out.
“The Nigerian population has the right to choose when elections are held if they don’t agree with the flurry of activity. Could you argue that the previous governor of Kebbi State was intimidated when the other person spoke intimidation? This individual overthrew an incumbent governor. He defeated the incumbent governor of Kebbi State, who was running for a Senate seat. He has since made the decision to join the APC. If you consider all of these, what are we at fault for? “It is their acceptance of our government’s actions that is the fault,” he said.
Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) after not being appointed a minister, the former member of the House of Representatives continued.
He wouldn’t be speaking in this manner if he were a minister. This type of elite leaving the grandeur of office has not yet been witnessed. In my opinion, El-Rufai is just venting because he lost out, he continued.
