Former Women Affairs Minister Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has spoken out over her invitation to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office regarding a fraud charge involving N138 million.
Kennedy-Ohanenye confirmed her attendance in the commission’s Abuja offices on Thursday, stating that she had been asked to provide clarification on certain financial expenses incurred during her ministry tenure.
Kennedy-Ohanenye was fired by the president during the cabinet reorganization while serving as a minister in Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Months after leaving office, the former minister, who was a lawyer by trade, returned to acting and published her first film.
The former minister further explained that the EFCC was a professional organization when she was invited by the anti-graft agency.

Shortly after her release, she posted on X, saying, “I appreciate the opportunity to address the issues that have recently been circulating in the media, and I commend the EFCC for their professionalism and hospitality.”
Additionally, she promised the commission that she would be willing to assist with its current inquiry.
According to the former minister, “my team and I carried out our responsibilities with diligence during my tenure, making effective use of the resources at our disposal and even adding personal funds to show our dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda for Nigerian women and children.”
