A female soldier named Corporal Amina Maidoki has been arrested and detained by the Nigerian Army on charges of theft and misconduct.
According to a statement released by Lt-Col Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Maidoki is presently being investigated for “allegations of conduct that contradicts the fundamental values of the Nigerian Army, including but not limited to the accusation of theft.”
The Nigerian Army denied any allegations of illegal imprisonment or denial of legal representation, but told the public that more information on the probe will be released when it is suitable and advised against making speculative remarks.
The highest standards of military ethics, internal regulations, and the Armed Forces Act’s (Cap A20 LFN 2004) current provisions serve as the NA’s compass as a professional military organization. Her brief imprisonment is therefore compliant with the legal protocols outlined for military personnel. The Nigerian Army’s disciplinary actions are not random, which is crucial to remember. Due process governs them, and all employees have a right to procedural justice.
Anele said in the statement, “Corporal Maidoki continues to receive appropriate welfare in line with military standards, and the ongoing investigation into this matter is being conducted with the utmost regard for her legal and human rights.”

Such assertions are all untrue and made merely to mislead the public and arouse unnecessary emotions. The Army stated, “Therefore, we urge the public to ignore such fraudulent submissions.”
In response to Maidoki’s family’s worries, the Army acknowledged them and assured them that it is open to legitimate communication and cooperation, provided that it adheres to the approved operational and investigation procedures.
“Regardless of the individuals involved, the Nigerian Army makes sure that the rights of every accused person are upheld.
