A suspected cult member connected to a string of violent crimes in the Oko area of Orumba North LGA has been taken into custody by the Anambra State Police Command.
On July 7, members of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Awkuzu captured 25-year-old Chukwujekwu Okoye, also referred to as Bus-Stop.
The arrest comes following occurrences in May and June that resulted in two people being injured, two people being murdered, and two victims being abducted and then freed after paying a ransom, according to Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesperson in Anambra.
According to Ikenga, the attacks took place at Oko’s Total and Tipper junctions.
He said that two cell phones and an automatic pump-action rifle were found on the suspended offender during the arrest.

The suspect admitted to being an active member of the Aye fraternity and having the rank of “Lord,” according to the state police spokesperson.
He claimed that the suspect disclosed preparations for a July 7 cult rivalry attack and initiation ritual, and that he also acknowledged that he and six other gang members had attacked Oko on June 19.
In an effort to break up the state’s criminal network, Ikenga continued, police have begun operations to capture additional gang members.
As the inquiry develops, the police headquarters pledged to release further information.
Because of the multiple murders and kidnappings in the region, Anambra Police Commissioner Ikioye Orutugu ordered increased security near Oko Polytechnic last month.
In order to identify the criminals behind the violence, Orutugu urged neighbors and students to work together more.
