A source close to prominent actress Eniola Badmus has denied accusations that she was detained in connection with the death of Ifeanyi, the son of well-known artist David Adeleke, or Davido, and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, according to news that was just published by the Punch Newspapers.
The late child’s babysitter, who is currently in police prison, allegedly stated that Badmus distracted her from watching the boy before he wandered off and drowned in the pool, leading to the actress’ arrest. On that issue, the source, who wished to remain anonymous, told Sunday Scoop that Badmus was not detained by the police and that she had no connection to the nanny in question.
The source said, “Eniola was not arrested by the police. She is in her house and the police have also confirmed that she was not arrested. As I speak with you, she is in her house, eating. She does not even know Ifeanyi’s nanny, talk more of calling her. People can say whatever they like. This is a grieving period for Davido, and the issue is a sad one.”
However, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, had earlier confirmed that Badmus was not arrested and he said in his words, “The story (on Badmus arrest) is false; nothing like that happened. The two suspects are still with us. The autopsy has been concluded. The autopsy confirmed that he (Ifeanyi) died by drowning.”
He also discussed the other two suspects, Davido’s cook, and Late Ifeanyi’s nanny, who is still being held by the police. According to Hundeyin’s words, he made it clear that he doesn’t want to say anything at this time about whether or not they would face charges in court.
He said in his words; “if the two principal suspects will be charged to court, I don’t want to preempt that. The investigation is still ongoing.”
