The official schedule of events for the 2026 Ekiti State gubernatorial election has been released by the All Progressives Congress (APC), including important dates and procedures for candidates and party members.
According to reports, the schedule, which was posted on the APC’s official 𝕏 handle on Friday and signed by Sulaiman Argungu, the party’s national organizing secretary, outlines the events leading up to the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026.
The Notice of Election to the State Chapter was sent out on Friday, July 25, 2025, marking the start of the election process. The Update of Membership Register then started on July 28, 2025, and will end on Friday, August 15, 2025.
“Only members whose names are on the register and who have paid their dues on time will be eligible to vote and be voted for,” the APC emphasized.
Beginning on Monday, August 18, and ending on Monday, September 2, 2025, nomination and expression of interest forms will be available for purchase for the governorship ticket. The deadline for submitting completed applications and delegate forms is Thursday, September 11, 2025.
Delegates, Primaries, and Screening
The statement states that the candidates will be screened from Tuesday, September 23, to Wednesday, September 24, 2025, and that the findings will be released on Friday, September 25, 2025.

The deadline for filing an appeal against screening results is Saturday, September 26, 2025.
On Thursday, October 2, 2025, the Delegate Congress will take place, and on Friday, October 3, 2025, the Delegate Congress Appeal will take place.
According to what was understood, the party’s primary election for governor is set for Monday, October 27, 2025, and appeals would be handled from Wednesday, October 29, to Thursday, October 30, 2025.
On Tuesday, October 28, 2025, a congress will convene to ratify the results of the gubernatorial primary election in accordance with the 2022 Electoral Act.
The National Working Committee (NWC) will receive the list of nominated candidates by Wednesday, January 7, 2026, and candidates will be able to obtain access codes for online form submission starting on Monday, November 10, 2025.
By Friday, January 16, 2026, the final list of candidates must be finished and published to the INEC web.
The official start of the campaign is Monday, April 6, 2026, and the grand finale is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, 2026, two days prior to the election.
The price of the nomination forms
The Expression of Interest form costs ₦10 million, while the Nomination form costs ₦40 million. The APC estimated that the cost of the governorship nomination forms would be ₦50 million.
While the Nomination Form will be provided free of charge, female candidates and those with disabilities only need to pay for the Expression of Interest form.
Candidates who are between the ages of 25 and 40 will pay for the Expression of Interest form and get 50% off the Nomination form.
The delegate form will cost ₦5,000, and eligibility is dependent on having contributed at least ₦200 a month for at least three months before the congress.
