The All Progressives Congress’s National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, has provided an explanation for the postponement of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s official admission into the ruling party.
Yilwatda claimed that the postponement was a calculated move related to regional and religious factors, especially the approaching Ramadan fast, in an interview with TVC Politics.
According to reports, he said, “We chose to clear the North first because the majority of people there are Muslims and Ramadan is approaching.”
Before heading to the South, we begged that we conclude with the northern governors that defected because Ramadan is a particularly delicate time.
Speculation that the delay was caused by internal party dynamics or the residual influence of former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike over party matters in the state was rejected by Yilwatda.

After the current events in the North are finished, Governor Fubara would be formally welcomed into the APC, the party chairman promised party loyalists.
