To urge Senate President Godswill Akpabio to support Senator Mohammed Sani Musa for the role of APC National Chairman, a coalition of youth organizations from more than 1,000 APC support groups in Nigeria’s North Central region has announced plans to send a delegation of 100 people to the Senate.

The youth leaders came to the decision at an emergency meeting Thursday in Lafia, the capital of Nasarawa state, to talk about the North Central geopolitical zone’s political future and the necessity of strategic positioning in front of the general elections in 2027.

The groups reaffirmed their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection campaign in a statement released at the conclusion of the meeting and signed by Comrade Dan Okwa, the North Central APC Youth Vanguard convener. They also stated that achieving that goal would necessitate a strong, practical, and politically astute party leadership.

We think the North Central has to be seen at the table of power in addition to being heard. It is crucial that we restructure our internal political structure and appoint one of our most capable and seasoned leaders to head the APC as we get ready for 2027,” the group stated.

The alliance claims that Senator Sani Musa, who chairs the Senate Committee on Finance and represents Niger East in the National Assembly, has shown the kind of devotion, vision, and grassroots knowledge required to stabilize and reposition the ruling party for electoral success over the years.

Okwa continued, “He is a man who has demonstrated unwavering commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, understands the inner workings of the APC, and appreciates its vision.”

“For that reason, we are sending a delegation of 100 people to see Senate President Godswill Akpabio within the next week in order to make our case and ask for his support for this crucial mission.”

The youth coalition said Sani Musa is a generational bridge who blends experience with a forward-thinking outlook, even though it acknowledged that other well-known candidates from the North Central, such as former Nasarawa governor Senator Tanko Al-Makura, have expressed interest in leading the party.

We hold all candidates in high regard, particularly Senator Al-Makura, a well-respected elder and party builder. However, we firmly feel that the APC needs a younger, active, and unifying leader who can inspire the party base, especially the youth, at this pivotal juncture in our country’s history. According to the communiqué, the individual is Senator Sani Musa.

Additionally, the groups took advantage of the occasion to urge APC political stakeholders and elders, particularly those from the North Central region, to pressure Senator Sani Musa to formally express interest in the position of national chairman and spearhead the initiative to increase the region’s clout in national politics.

According to Okwa, the group traveling to Akpabio will deliver a comprehensive petition that includes the youth summit resolutions and a summary of the North Central zone’s strategic contribution to the APC’s survival since its founding.

“The North Central has always supported the APC, from organizing large-scale voter turnout to standing up for the party in trying times. “We think this is the right moment for the party to reward capacity and loyalty,” he stated.

Along with vowing to increase mobilization throughout the North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory prior to the APC National Convention, the youth coalition reiterated that their campaign is about more than just regional inclusion; it is also about restoring party discipline, restoring trust, and setting up the APC for future successes.

“Not only in the North Central, but in all the zones, we will interact with important leaders. This is about the APC’s future, and we think Senator Sani Musa is the best person to get us there,” Okwa said.

Later on week, the group is anticipated to meet with Senate President Akpabio in Abuja.
