The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State has promised to closely monitor the state government’s utilization of the N3 billion relief funds released by the Federal Government for victims of flood in the state.

The APC Chairman in the state, Abdullahi Abbas, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday in Kano.

He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to transparency and accountability in the funds’ disbursement.

“We are concerned about the potential diversion of these funds, considering past incidents of mismanagement.

“The APC will ensure that these funds are used for the intended purpose, providing relief to flood-affected communities,” the chairman stated.

Abbas noted that there were allegations of diversion and hoarding of rice and maize released to the state by officials during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He added: “We cannot allow a repeat of such incidents. To prevent misuse, the APC will monitor the funds’ disbursement and ensure judicious application.

“We assure the people of Kano that we will safeguard these funds against political exploitation.”

“The APC is committed to transparency and accountability. We will ensure these funds benefit the people, not politicians.”
