Araraume Throws Weight Behind Tinubu’s Second Term

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reelection has the backing of Senator Ifeanyi Araraume.

Speaking to reporters at his rural house in the Isiebu community in the Isiala Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, Araraume asserted that Tinubu has the constitutional right to run for a second term and that the president has done a good job and should have an additional four years to solidify existing changes.

Araraume praised the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and called it a transformative framework that will positively redefine Nigeria’s growth in a statement signed by Jimmy Enyeh, the lawmaker’s media assistant.

“First, President Tinubu eliminated the subsidy and put an end to subsidy frauds by directing the funds to the two levels of government, something that some of his predecessors were unable to accomplish. The money should be utilized by the subnationals for the advantage of the populace at large.

According to Araraume, the president pushed for the nation’s Local Government (LG) autonomy and forced state governors to abide by a Supreme Court decision that mandated direct funding for councils.

It is essential for grassroots development, improved service delivery, and true federalism, Mr. President contended. In the event that the governors do not comply, he threatened to deploy federal involvement.

“This is another victory for Mr. President since it has highlighted financial independence, which is a crucial step in enabling LGs to effectively address local needs by enabling them to manage finances directly without intervention from the state.

“The reforms started by President Tinubu are repositioning our country for sustainable growth and stability,” added Araraume.

He outlined the administration’s major policy accomplishments, including economic revival, the unification of exchange rates to stabilize the financial system, and the introduction of new tax measures to increase the national income base and simplify the fiscal framework.

Araraume also emphasized the administration of President Bola Tinubu’s social investment agenda.

“The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) was established to encourage access to higher education in conjunction with enhanced youth initiatives and social intervention programs.”

He emphasized that Nigeria is not a one-party state and advised against what he called false narratives about the ruling party and the country’s political system.

He claimed that Nigeria’s multiparty democracy, which has over 40 recognized political parties, amply demonstrates democratic freedom and political plurality.

Every Nigerian has the right to join any political party of their choosing, according to Araraume, who added that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were neither bullied or compelled.

He clarified that political realignments are nothing new in the nation, pointing out that such moves had place during the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) era.

According to Araraume, the APC operates as a single family with cooperation at the federal, state, and local levels of government. The party is still in support of President Tinubu’s reelection campaign.

In addition to encouraging new members to register, he revealed that the APC has started an electronic registration drive.

Speaking on Imo State, Araraume stated that Governor Hope Uzodimma is now serving out his last term and expressed confidence in the ability and acceptability of the candidate the party puts forth.

Although there is always need for improvement in governance, he stated that the party would support its final candidates at all state levels and that any flaws found would be constructively handled.

Recalling his involvement in Tinubu’s 2023 presidential campaign, Araraume stated that the president had appointed him as national director of trade and economy for Southern Nigeria, encompassing the South East, South South, and South West. He added that Tinubu would perform even better if given another chance.
