According to the Ohanaeze Youth Council, or OYC, Nigeria is on the brink of anarchy and political instability as a result of the recent arrests of Omoyele Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor, and Emmanuel Kanu, the younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu.

According to the youth organization, the current climate of intimidation, harassment, and tribal victimization surrounding the federal government’s handling of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of IPOB, has highlighted a glaring breakdown of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s rule.

In a forceful warning released Friday and signed by its National President, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka, the pan-Igbo Youth group denounced the executive recklessness of Bola Tinubu’s administration, claiming that Nigeria is headed toward anarchy and that this is being planned in a last-ditch effort to silence voices of opposition, justice, and reason in advance of the general elections in 2027.

The Youth Council claims that under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is currently in a hazardous situation akin to a ship about to capsize following a cyclone.

“It is shocking that President Tinubu, using his anti-human rights Nigerian police, ordered the arrest of activist Omoyele Sowore, the former African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, and the organizer of the first phase of the #FreeNnamdiKanu protest, at the Federal High Court in Abuja last Tuesday morning,” the statement read.

It is important to note that during the peaceful FreeNnamdiKanu protest on October 20, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, acting through Inspector General of Police Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the arrest of peaceful protesters, including Barrister Kingdom Nnamdi Okere, Prince Emma Kanu, and Nnamdi Kanu lawyer Bar Aloy Ejimakor. These individuals were then arraigned at Kuje Magistrate Court and placed under remand in custody at Kuje Prison.

“To avoid the recurrence of the Madagascar and Napel crises in Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu must act immediately to order the release of Sowore, Aloy Ejimakor, Prince Emma Kanu, Barrister Kingdom Okere, and others, as well as to begin a process of national healing and true reconciliation.”

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should take into consideration the advice of distinguished Nigerian leaders, pursue a political solution, drop all charges, and effect his unconditional release in light of the growing international demand for Nnamdi Kanu’s freedom,” Comrade Igboayaka suggested.

Because of Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s activities, Igboayaka concluded, “Nnamdi Kanu’s case highlights the issue of selective justice against the Lgbo people, potentially undermining Nigeria’s stability.”
