ASUP Pressures Taraba Governor to Effect Salary Increment for Polytechnic Staff

In order to implement the long-awaited 25/35% pay increase for employees at Taraba State Polytechnic, Suntai, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, or ASUP, in Taraba State has made a plea to Governor Agbu Kefas.
Dr. Bala Sule, the recently elected ASUP Chairman for the state, made the demand at a news conference held at the Jalingo campus of the organization.

Dr. Sule expressed regret about the backlog of unpaid salary arrears owing to employees and drew attention to the ongoing delay in implementing the authorized pay raise.

During his term, he promised to prioritize the financial well-being of union members, and he called on the state government to immediately respond to the association’s appeal.

I shall try my utmost to draw Governor Kefas’ attention and persuade him to enact our 25/35% pay rise in my capacity as ASUP Chairman.

We will also bring up the matter of unpaid salary arrears and inform him that it is not beneficial for the organization to keep employees in financial hardship,” he said.

Dr. Sule acknowledged the difficulties that employees face, but he ruled out the idea of industrial action, emphasizing that the union would use diplomatic channels to make its demands known.

“There will not be any kind of strike action during my tenure. He promised, “We will pursue dialogue to ensure our concerns are heard, even if the government does not address our demands.”

Additionally, Dr. Sule revealed plans to work with ASUP’s zonal and national leadership to further engage the state administration and advocate for the salary adjustment’s implementation.

He underlined that the new leadership would keep looking for amicable and beneficial solutions to the problems impacting its members and restated the union’s dedication to employee welfare.
