On Wednesday, the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) announced that its Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B Kaduna intercepted 250 parcels of cannabis sativa, also known as Indian Hemp, valued at over N10.4 million, en route to a bandit camp in Katsina State.
A.B. Hamisu, the Comptroller of FOU Zone B Kaduna, made the announcement in a statement issued in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Other drugs seized by the FOU, according to him, include 75,582 suspected Tramadol tablets worth over N29.7 million, which he claims promotes banditry and other forms of criminality.

He also said that 1,582 D5 tablets worth N12,720,011.68 were seized, which are not good for circulation because they can encourage crime.
“I am sure the hemp was destined for the bandits as the illicit product was well packaged,” he said, adding that the perpetrators were apprehended in Katsina’s notorious Basari Area.
He urged members of the public who have information on such illegal items to share it with security agencies so that they can act quickly.
“Anyone with information on this should please contact us. “Any information we receive will be kept private,” he stated.
