According to reports, despite continuous attempts by the government and security services to solve these concerns, Dutsinma is one of the local government districts in Katsina State that still faces serious security problems, such as banditry and livestock rustling.
State police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq and other government officials had not made any formal remarks about the incident at the time of this report.
In order to securely retrieve the kidnapped students, security forces have reportedly launched a search operation, according to a Daily Trust article.
Student kidnappings in Nigeria have alarmingly increased in recent years, highlighting the nation’s worsening security situation.
Gunmen launched a daring attack on Kaduna State’s Greenfield University in April 2021, capturing at least 20 students and two employees. Sadly, three of the students who had been abducted were found dead a few days later.

After being held captive for a month, the other 14 students were eventually let free.
Confluence University in Kogi State experienced a similar circumstance in May 2024 when at least nine students were kidnapped from their classes.
In February 2025, kidnappers also abducted four female students at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue State.
