According to reports, despite continuous attempts by the government and security services to solve these concerns, Dutsinma is one of the local government districts in Katsina State that still faces serious security problems, such as banditry and livestock rustling.

State police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Sadiq and other government officials had not made any formal remarks about the incident at the time of this report.

In order to securely retrieve the kidnapped students, security forces have reportedly launched a search operation, according to a Daily Trust article.

In February 2025, kidnappers also abducted four female students at Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University in Makurdi, Benue State.
