The Bayelsa State House of Assembly has approved Governor Douye Diri’s request to appoint an additional 12 special advisers.
The House, which resumed from recess on Wednesday, received three letters from the state government, including the governor’s request for the appointment of 12 special advisers.
Diri also requested the House approval of the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) as well as the screening and confirmation of two commissioner nominees for the State Independent Electoral Commission (BYSIEC).

The Protem Leader of the House, Wisdom Fafi, moved a motion for approval of the governor’s request to appoint more special advisers
Another lawmaker, Tare Pori, seconded the motion.
The House, however, deferred the screening and confirmation of BYSIEC nominees and consideration of the MTEF/FSP to the next legislative sitting.
